Another cloudy and breezy day, with good dry spells and a few patches of light rain and drizzle. A band of more persistent rain will push eastwards during the evening. 

Local temperatures up to 11deg in moderate to fresh winds from the west. 

On this day in 1815, Mount Tambora in Indonesia erupted violently, in the largest volcanic eruption in recorded human history. The explosion was heard 2,000 kilometres away, and the blast reduced the mountain's height from 4,300 metres to 2,850 metres.
