Council to assess Library crossing

Council engineers are to investigate whether the temporary Zebra Crossing point at Kilcullen Library is suitable for the establishment of an uncontrolled crossing with dished kerbs, writes Brian Byrne.

This follows a request from Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer, who raised it at yesterday's meeting of the Kildare-Newbridge MD.

Officials noted that the temporary crossing had been provided to facilitate closure of the footpath while Milstream Court was being built. The crossing beacons were removed when the works were finished, but the road markings have not yet been removed.

Cllr O'Dwyer wants the crossing made permanent, with dished kerbs to facilitate use by wheelchair users.
