No resources yet for Kilcullen parking and footfall survey

Kildare County Council is not in a position to conduct a parking and footfall survey in support of Kilcullen’s village design strategy, work on which is to begin shortly, writes Brian Byrne.

In an answer to a request by motion from Cllrs Tracey O’Dwyer and Rob Power for such a survey, Wednesday’s meeting of the Kildare-Newbridge MD heard that the Roads Projects team are working on the development of Transport Strategies for Kildare Town, and will shortly be starting on one for Newbridge.

As a consequence, due to limited resources, the report to the councillors said it is not possible to commit to further transport strategies until such time as current strategies are completed.

The report noted that strategies had been completed for Naas-Sallins and for Athy.

Cllrs O’Dwyer and Power had requested that the survey be delivered in preparation for the new Local Area Plan and in support of the village design strategy.
