Fergal cycles to bronze in Masters National Championship

Pictured is Fergal Regan getting his Bronze medal from the Masters National Championship in Maghera, Derry, last Sunday, writes Liam Walker of Kilcullen Cycling Club.

Fergal rode strongly in the 80k race and might have won but was hampered in the sprint from a 25-man group.

On the previous Thursday evening Fergal won the last round of the league in Timahoe. This result meant that he was 2nd in the inter-county league, missing out on the overall league by one point. Also in the the league Bradley Turner was 3rd and Paul McKenna was 4th.

Our Youth riders were in action recently with Shane Whelan and Conor Regan riding strongly to gain minor placings in Mondello and Carlow.

In Athy today (Sunday 15th) for the Leinster Championships, Conor Regan was 6th in the Under-12 race. Both Shane and Oisin were also racing but failed to get among the prizes.

The National Championship for underage riders is in Gorey over two days with each rider going in three races.
