Wastewater works to disrupt traffic in Newbridge

Traffic will be disrupted on the Athgarvan Road in Newbridge from Wednesday 10 February until 23 March to allow work to be undertaken on the Newbridge Wastewater upgrade project.

This is part  of the Upper Liffey Valley Sewerage Scheme by which Sallins, Clane, Naas and Kill are served by a wastewater network which is no longer fit for purpose.

A temporary road will be constructed from the entrance of Lidl to the back of the Newbridge Shopping Centre to allow businesses and customers to access businesses in the area and will be in place for the duration of the works.

This project forms part of a €38 million investment in the wastewater network in Kildare that involves laying 18km of new sewers to improve the wastewater network and safeguard the environment. The current wastewater infrastructure is unable to support the needs of the area and does not comply with European legislation or Environmental Protection Agency requirements.
