WEATHER

Sunny spells and well scattered showers today, some heavy. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees with light east to northeast or variable breezes. Mostly dry tonight with long clear spells and just isolated showers.

DID YOU KNOW?

With the advent of the Industrial Revolution in 19th-century Britain, a trade developed as 'knocker-upper', people who were paid by workers to tap on their bedroom windows to wake them in time to go to work. The knocker-uppers used long poles or in some cases pea-shooters to make discreet noises on the upstairs bedroom windows of their clients. In some parts of England, the trade persisted until the 1970s.

PARISH LOTTO
