If you want some book suggestions for Christmas, you couldn't do better than tune in this evening to the streamed interview by Woodbine Books with local best selling author Hazel Gaynor, writes Brian Byrne.
The interview will be streamed via Zoom at 7pm this evening, and free access can gained by following the Eventbrite link below to book tickets in advance. In addition to talking about the writing life, Dawn Behan and Hazel will discuss the strong Irish literary scene, from writers to bookshops, as well as Hazel's new book The Bird in the Bamboo Cage, launched in the middle of lockdown (and just this week announced on the shortlist for this year's An Post Irish Book Awards in the Popular Fiction category).
For those who want to get ahead of the queues this year, Hazel will then give some of her book recommendations for this Christmas.
Tonight's event is in association with Antonia's Bookstore in Trim, Co Meath and The Maynooth Bookshop. Tickets to view the streamed event are free but places must be reserved. There is also an option to purchase a signed book with your ticket, either for collection from the bookshop or to be posted within Ireland. Tickets can be reserved here.
