Today is the last day for inspection of the draft Kildare County Council Bye-Laws on the Control of Consumption & Possession of Alcohol in Public Places, writes Brian Byrne.

The by-laws when implemented will apply in 20 towns and villages throughout the county, and will specify fixed penalty fines and possible prosecution in the courts for people who contravene them. An earlier public consultation took place last summer

The inspection period runs until Wednesday 14 October, and the draft is available on the Council's website, from Áras Chill Dara in Naas or its Customer Service Point in Athy, or in libraries in Athy, Ballitore, Castledermot, Celbridge, Clane, Clocha Rince, Kilcock, Kilcullen, Kildare Town, Leixlip, Maynooth, Monasterevin, Naas, Newbridge and Rathangan. Please note that access to all Libraries is by appointment only.

Submissions or observations on the proposed bye-laws may be made online here or in writing to Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Services Department, Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co Kildare. Please make your submission by one medium only — online OR in hard copy. E-mail or faxed submissions will not be accepted.

Closing date for receipt of submissions and observations is 5pm on Wednesday 28 October 2020.
