Weatherday: Greenhouse man

Rather dull and cloudy for most of the day. Maybe some showers, maybe some sunny spells. But generally a grey Bank Holiday Sunday.

Highest temperatures around 16deg in mid-afternoon. Mostly light westerly breezes.

On this day in 1820, John Tyndall was born in Leighlinbridge, Co Carlow. He became a prominent physicist, and among his achievements was experimentally proving the connection between atmospheric CO2 and what is now known as the 'greenhouse effect'.
