Footpaths repairs being prepared for tender

Footpath at Logstown.
Footpath repair tenders are currently being prepared for various locations in Kilcullen, including Logstown and Avondale, as well as Brannockstown and Grangemore, writes Brian Byrne.

The works are being funded from LPT disbursements, and were noted in an update on the municipal district road works given to councillors at Wednesday's meeting of the Kildare Newbridge MD.

Avondale.
The meeting was also told that the Municipal District Office will 'have a look' at Thompson's Cross in relation to inclusion in Low-cost Safety schemes for 2021. The report, on foot of a motion by Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer, noted that 'funding under this scheme by its nature is very small'.

In response to a question from Cllr O'Dwyer on the agenda, officials said 'there are no plans' to carry out a feasibility study for a cycleway in the environs of Kilcullen Community Centre.

Cllr Fiona McLoughlin Healy's question on whether cycling and pedestrian infrastructure projects had been added to the Council's Technical Assessment Advisory Group list received an answer in the negative.

But officials from the Roads, Transportation and Public Safety department said that the list of works referred 'will be examined'. The fact that that some Municipal Districts have allocated funding specifically to advance schemes of this nature was welcomed.
