Appeal for help after burglary at Community Centre

An appeal has been made for anyone who may have seen something suspicious around the Community Centre during the night, following a break-in, writes Brian Byrne.

The Garda are investigating the incident, which was discovered at around 9am today. A substantial amount of damage was done by the intruders, who broke in through a ground-floor window.

"They ransacked the office and took monitors and our computer," centre manager Enda O'Neill told the Diary. "They even took the small hand-sanitiser bottles which we had, to give out free to people using the Centre, and for vulnerable groups."

The computer was found this morning on the adjoining pitch and putt course, completely broken up. The Garda Forensic Unit has been examining the overall scene.

"It happened sometime after 8.30pm yesterday and this morning," says Enda O'Neill. "If anyone saw or heard anything suspicious, please contact the Garda at Kilcullen. This is really a disgrace, as the Centre is for the community of Kilcullen."

Kilcullen Garda Station number is 045 481212.
