Trees donated by beekeepers all booked
All 300 saplings offered to Kilcullen by the Irish Beekeepers Association are now spoken for, writes Brian Byrne.
Local beekeeper Paul Leighton says there was an 'overwhelming' response to the offer, which was only announced on Friday. "My mobile phone almost melted," he told the Diary this evening.
The saplings include Silver Birch, Alder, Oak, Rowan, and Birch, and Paul says there will be a collection point organised for Wednesday evening.
"Everyone who has been allocated trees will be contacted, and social distancing will apply during the collection," he says.
All those getting trees will be asked to provide a photograph of the planting to furnish to the IBKA and Coillte for their generous support.
