Heydon will discuss Government pandemic supports, plans, at Kildare Chamber webinar

The three phases of the Irish Government response to help businesses during the current coronavirus pandemic will be discussed by local TD Martin Heydon tomorrow, Friday 1 May, at the Networking Webinar organised by County Kildare Chamber, writes Brian Byrne.

The Webinar will run from 9.30am-10.30am and Deputy Heydon is the guest speaker at the online-only event.

He says he will be updating the Chamber members on the supports available at this time, including the wage subsidies and the services of the Local Enterprise Office.

"In effect Government sees supports for business in three phases," he says. "The initial phase of supports is in the form of the wage subsidy scheme to maintain the link between employers and employees as well as deferment of rates. The second phase will be the rebooting of the economy to help get business back to work, and the third will be the long term macro measures for recovery of the overall economy from a position of deficit to surplus and to improve our unemployment rate."

The Deputy says he also expects to get queries on the easing of the restrictions, and how best businesses can prepare to reopen in the future.
