Biodiversity workshops postponed until autumn

All training sessions under the Kildare Community Biodiversity Project are postponed until September 2020, according to a statement from Green Pine Consultants who are coordinating the programme, writes Brian Byrne.

This is due to the uncertainty over what restrictions may be in place over the next while because of the Covid-19 situation.

Kilcullen is one of the ten towns in Kildare in the programme, and the consultants say they will be in touch with local organisers in coming weeks about the dates when fixed.

"In the meantime, we would like to try to keep some of the momentum going over the coming months and propose to send you out monthly bulletins related to biodiversity by email," the consultants say. "This will include links to id guides, how-to guides, and some wildlife-related things to do during this period."

Paul Leighton, coordinator of the Kilcullen Pollinator Group, says that 'great work' is still being done by estates and groups in the town.

"We will continue to do activities in Kilcullen, but unfortunately a lot slower than we had planned," he advises. "Keep safe, and remember we have a community Covid-19 Group if any individual or family needs support."
