Ukulele band strikes its startup chords

There was a very good turnout last evening to the inaugural session of the U-Can Ukulele Band in the Community Centre, writes Brian Byrne.

There were 14 people present in total, between them already having nine instruments.

"We had fun with the complications and chord changes in 'Happy Birthday' but fortunately everybody knew the words!," says the instigator of the idea, Robert Jordan. "We achieved one significant goal ... we laughed a lot."

The group meets again next week at a venue to be announced.
