Kilcullen parking to figure at next MD meeting

Market Square building overground car park.
Parking is the subject of the two elements relating to Kilcullen on the agenda for the next meeting of the Kildare Newbridge Municipal District, writes Brian Byrne.

The meeting scheduled for 10am on Wednesday next, 15 January, will call on Kildare County Council to provide a public car park for Kilcullen. That's a motion from Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer.

There's also a question from Cllr Fiona McLoughlin Healy on public parking in and around the market square. Specifically she is asking for 'certainty in the form of answers' to previous queries.

These are whether and how soon the barrier at the overground car park attached to the Market Square building can be removed, and whether the owners could 'charge in the future' for access to 'these public parking spaces'? She also wants to know whether there were ever public underground parking spaces promised as part of the planning application for the Market Square apartment block?
