Big numbers for Sarah Swaine Memorial Run

Almost 400 people took part in the 2020 Sarah Swaine Memorial Run which started this lunchtime, writes Brian Byrne.

With a superb day weather-wise for the event, there was a great buzz of activity at the registration venue in the Parish Centre. Participants included representatives from many running clubs in the Leinster area and beyond.

There were around 170 pre-registrations online before the day arrived at all, which was a great boost in advance for the Make A Wish Foundation, the chosen charity for this year's Run.

There were two distances, 10K and 5K, with a solid turnout for both. Medals were provided by local company Carve On.

One of the organisers, Carrie Swayne, said she was very pleased with the numbers. "I think I'm going to have to go and make more sandwiches for them," she quipped as the runners headed off down the Carlow Road.
