The very dangerous intersection at Corbally Cross is now much safer, thanks to work carried out by Kildare County Council, writes Brian Byrne.

For motorists from the Melon Hill Road trying to enter the often very busy road between Athgarvan and Two Mile House, visibility issues meant it was something of a 'take a chance and hope for the best'.

However, Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer is now very pleased to see the completion of the considerable improvements undertaken in recent weeks.

"It has been a long time in the making, but finally motorists can pull out safely," she says.

The €85,000 that the work cost was sanctioned by the Department of Transport last November under the Low Cost Safety Improvement Scheme.

As well as improving the sight lines, the road surface at the junction has also been appropriately marked up to heighten awareness of the junction for approaching motorists.
