Respect lifesaving lifebuoys — plea
A plea has been made for the lifebuoys in the Valley Park to be respected as important for saving lives, writes Brian Byrne.
At the recent presentation of the Kilcullen Community Awards, Eoin Houlihan of Kilcullen Community Action noted that the installation of the lifebuoys was among the numerous ways that Kildare County Council had supported KCA activities during the year.
“They're there to save lives," he said, but added that one of them had disappeared since they had been installed. "Someone thought it fun to take it and throw it away. I would appeal to people not to treat lifesaving equipment in this way."
The lifebuoys were provided following representations from KCA's Antoinette Buckley, whose initiative with the Fairy Trail had increased footfall through the park, including many children.
