First Responders Information event tonight
A reminder that the Community First Responders Information Meeting takes place this evening, Thursday, in the Town Hall, writes Brian Byrne.
Ger O'Dea, paramedic and HSE Community Engagement Officer, will be among the speakers at the event, which will gauge interest in a voluntary first responders unit in Kilcullen.
If there is enough interest, volunteers will be given full training in CPR, and will need to be available in a voluntary capacity for a few hours a month.
Jarlath Gilroy, whose father-in-law Michael was resuscitated after suffering heart failure recently while watching a GAA match at Kilcullen, will speak about how important it was that there was somebody available there to help. And Brian Willis, who operated the defibrillator on that occasion will also be at the meeting in the Town Hall.
Speakers already confirmed include Amanda Ross of Naas Community First Responders and HSE National Ambulance Services; David Finnegan, HSE Advanced Paramedic and National Ambulance Service College; Karen Cradock, Cardiac Physiotherapist; Vivienne Wynne; and Nichola Kennedy, Optometrist.
The meeting begins at 7.30pm. All welcome.
