New cone for pump stump
A new cone has arrived for the protruding stump of the pump which was knocked down some years ago outside Ladbrokes, writes Brian Byrne.
A truck delivering fuel on behalf of Applegreen knocked it down, and the pump itself was taken into safekeeping by Kildare County Council.
For some time the original cone has been absent, with the protruding studs being a real danger for anyone tripping over them.
This time the cone has professional looking sandbags to hold it in place. But no sign of the piece of historic street furniture being repaired and reinstalled.
It is possible that the new cone has been put in place because a case for damages by a person who did have such a trip is now being progressed?
It will be interesting to see where the claim is aimed.
