Council will 'look again' at Two Mile House footpath issue

Kildare County Council is to look again at a situation in Two Mile House where a footpath is needed to link a housing estate with the village, writes Brian Byrne.

This follows a question from Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer, who notes that Dowdingstown is the only housing estate in the village from where children cannot walk to school because there's no footpath.

At the recent meeting of the Kildare-Newbridge MD, a report noted that the Council had made several efforts to acquire land for the footpath but had not been successful.

Cllr O'Dwyer said that circumstances have changed, with one of three houses involved in the previous negotiations now being for sale, and there perhaps may be 'wiggle room' for further discussions.

“I acknowledge that the Council has put three years of work on this, so we should push it on,” she said. She asked for sight of the previous correspondence on the matter, to see what way it might be progressed.

She was told that the correspondence would be made available.
