Boots on the ground at CPC
Work is well under way at CPC in advance of demolition and building work to provide new school buildings, writes Brian Byrne. A set of temporary accommodations for classrooms has to be set up first, and temporary parking for school staff cars.
The proposed extension to CPC was first announced in July of 2018. A Design Team was appointed in 2021, shortly after initial agreement to prepare documents for tender was given. A tender process was initiated in June 2024.
JJ Rhatigan was appointed as the main contractor for the construction and demolition works at the college, and began work last Monday. In addition to new school classrooms, the extension will include new play areas, landscaped spaces, car parks, ball courts, and bike parking.
