KCCEC Parents and Guardians meeting
There was a capacity crowd in the Childcare Centre last night for a meeting about the upcoming development work at the service, writes Iseult O'Donoghue.
KCCEC Board Chair Caryl Traynor outlined the plans to renovate the substantial space on the first floor for use as a dedicated school-aged childcare area. He also described the process and plans for the considerable expansion of the garden area at the rear of the site. He expressed the gratitude of all at KCCEC to the Community Centre and CPC nuns for their support of this development.
Manager Emma McEvoy spoke to parents regarding the practical aspects of the building works and the enhanced service in September. She received a spontaneous round of applause when it was announced that a breakfast club would be rolled out in the new school term.
The successful contractors are Kennycourt and KCCEC are delighted to renew this partnership to bring further services to the community. The projects are being part-funded by grants, however the bulk of the capital is coming from the centre itself, a considerable achievement for a non-profit, community-based service.
The KCCEC Annual General Meeting is taking place on the 26th June at 6.30pm in the Centre and all are welcome to attend.
