JB to represent Ireland in Minsk

JB Murphy has been selected to ride in the European Olympic Games in Minsk next weekend where he will represent Ireland in the Omnium on Sunday the 30th of June, writes Liam Walker of Kilcullen Cycling Club.

The Omnium is a collection of four races which is run on a points basis. The races are all massed start races and a real test of endurance. JB’s selection comes after three weeks altitude training in Andora and last weekend he was racing in Bonn.

This year is very important for the Irish squad as these races are in preporation for Tokyo Olympics next year. I believe that there will be only two track riders sent to Tokyo and at the moment there are six riders on the squad.

On the local scene we are getting ready for the Murphy Surveys Crumlin Hospital charity cycle on Saturday the 20th of July and JB hopes to be home to take part in the event.
