Filming for Kilcullen segment in 'The River Liffey'
Filming took place yesterday for a Kilcullen segment in the 'The River Liffey' series, a collaboration between the Heritage Offices of Wicklow, Kildare and South Dublin County Councils, writes Brian Byrne.
Seventeen short videos in the series have already been produced by the Bailey & Blake video production company, representatives of which spent an afternoon in March in Kilcullen at an exploratory meeting for the segment.
The four-and-a-half minute films depict different aspects of the Liffey, from its source in the Wicklow Mountains, along its journey through Kildare and Dublin to the sea. Themes explored include history, geology, flora, fauna and the people associated with the river.
A number of them were shown recently in Ballymore under the banner of River Liffey Stories, where Nessa Dunlea made initial contact with the company.
It is hoped to show the Kilcullen segment at one of the Kilcullen 700 talks later in the year.
