Signage project back in focus
Kilcullen Community Action has made a licence application to Kildare County Council to allow a new town signage programme to be implemented, writes Brian Byrne.
Noel Clare told the meeting that the signage project has 'been going on a long time' and had essentially stalled in the Council, but with the help of Tracey O'Dwyer who recently brought along the Section 254 licence application form, it was now under way again.
He said that the Kildare Leader Partnership is prepared to consider grant funding of up to 75pc of the cost once the Council has agreed to the project.
A project document produced by KCA some time ago details the extent of the programme, which will include official town name signs on all approach roads, as well as signage for all roads in Kilcullen, and some tourism-related signs.
The suggested colour scheme is mainly black and white as these are the Kilcullen colours, Noel said. He added that the project group would meet again 'when we have some direction' from the Council.
