Traffic speed and volume count for Brannockstown
Kildare County Council is to undertake a traffic speed and volume count at Brannockstown to see if further traffic calming is needed in the village, writes Brian Byrne.
This was agreed in a meeting with Fine Gael local election candidate Tracey O'Dwyer (left) and Deputy Martin Heydon. The move will inform decisions around future speed control measures, and if speed proves to be an issue, it will be discussed with An Garda.
At the last meeting of the Naas MD, Cllr Fintan Brett asked the Council to consider an additional traffic ramp in Brannockstown village. He was told this would require examination by the Road Design section to determine the impact and effectiveness of such a ramp, if found to be warranted.
At the recent Brannockstown Community meeting, concerns were also raised about speed of traffic through the village, with requests for the matter to be addressed by the relevant authorities.
These concerns also feed into fears of potential incidents on the road continuing through Milemill to the Old Carlow Road, where traffic is reported as speeding and being particularly heavy between 4pm-7pm, in recent times.
