There was a good turnout for the recent Brannockstown Community Meeting with most areas of the village represented.

Topics discussed included plans for the tidy towns application, the village planting scheme, footpath upgrades, signage upgrades and general plans for village enhancements.

Other subjects included plans by Irish Water for infrastructural improvements and options for traffic calming in the village. Concerns were raised on the speed of traffic trough the village and the meeting called for this concern to be addressed by the relevant authorities.

The meeting was advised that an open position exists through FAS to support the maintenance of the village. The position is for a two-year term and interested parties were encouraged to make contact with the committee for further information.

Other topics included the possible organisation of a community event in May, the current status of the purchase of a defibrillator, and options to facilitate CPR training for people in the village.

The meeting concluded with the establishment of a new community committee which will meet in the coming weeks to firm up plans for the year ahead.
