Witnesses sought over weekend graffiti incident

Kilcullen gardai are seeking possible witnesses to a spate of offensive graffiti which have been painted in a local estate, writes Brian Byrne.

In particular they are asking for any information on such activities last Saturday evening which caused significant distress in the area involved. It is believed the incident happened after dark.

Spraying graffiti of any kind is a criminal damage offence, punishable in a district court on conviction by time in prison or a fine of up to €2,000.

A ‘Think Don’t Tag’ campaign in partnership with An Garda Síochána notes that any such conviction could result in a perpetrator having difficulties with future travel arrangements to countries where a criminal conviction is a bar to entry.

The number for Kilcullen Garda Station is 045 481212.
