Pedestrian access to Valley discussed

An issue with parked cars restricting the pedestrian access way to the Valley Park was raised at the latest meeting of Kilcullen Community Action, writes Brian Byrne.

The matter came up as part of a discussion on progress with the planned Fairy Trail for the park, which it is hoped to have in place by the middle of next month.

It was noted that for years a single car related to a nearby property had regularly parked on the entrance off Main Street, but in recent times a second car would also park there.

Members commented on the fact that this later situation often left insufficient space between the cars for access to the park by people with buggies. When the Fairy Trail is installed, it is likely there will be a considerably increased traffic by pedestrians with young families.

A number of possible remedies were suggested, including using lines and surface signage to reserve part of the entrance for pedestrian access.

The matter was left unresolved.
