Twinning Group seeks meeting with Council

The Kilcullen Twinning Group are hoping to attend the December meeting of the Naas Municipal District to put a case for twinning with a town in Normandy, writes Brian Byrne.

Cllr Rob Power has a motion down for the November meeting on Tuesday of next week, asking that the MD agree to meet the delegation.

Members of the Twinning Group recently went to Saint Contest, near Caen, to explore the possibilities, following overtures from the French town. With a strong background in equine matters, Saint Contest sought connection with a similar sized town in Kildare. The request went to Tracy Piggott, who suggested Kilcullen.

All twinnings between towns must be organised through the local authority, which is why the December meeting is required. There's a full report of the exploratory visit in the November Bridge Magazine.
