Unemployed or need upskilling? Contact Obair

The County Kildare Local Employment Service Network (Obair) is developing an outreach service to facilitate individuals in rural areas who may have difficulty finding transport or accessing its services at its offices in Kildare Town, Athy, Newbridge, Leixlip, and Naas.

Working under contract to the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection, the Kildare LESN provides a career guidance, CV writing, and a Referral and Information Service. Its goal is to help the unemployed find employment, and it can also help with funding towards training and education.

People do not have to be on a payment to use the service but they do have to be unemployed. Eligibility to register can be checked by way of a short telephone conversation with one of Kildare LESN's officers.

Kildare LESN has job placed 35pc of almost 2,000 clients in the last year. A non-profit charitable organisation, it has been in operation for over 21 years, originally funded by The Department of Trade and Enterprise

The service can provide jobseekers with current information on Welfare supports, provide basic computer training for jobseeking purposes, and provide links to local employers by which job vacancies can be passed direct to the service users.
