Library is for all the time

Did you know that the Kildare Library Service is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year? writes Brian Byrne.

Well it is, through its extensive online services where you can browse the book catalogues and order books to be delivered to your local branch, download e-books, and renew or extend lending periods for books you have out.

Library members can also use the online services for self-education, both by using the Mángo language courses and the wide range of more than 500 courses available through the Universal Class programme.

The Library Service also subscribes to 290 digital magazines and provides unlimited access to them for its members. The ProQuest service offers news from many key Irish and international newspapers, and there is also access to thousands of digital graphic novels and comics.

Self-learning in music and arts is also available through the ArtistWorks for Libraries programme, while reference options include the digital version of the Encyclopaedia Britannica and the ehistory databases which include access to the archives of many local newspapers.

All you need is your Library Card number and PIN.

Go to the Library now.
