Warning about thefts from cars at cemeteries
People visiting cemeteries in Kilcullen are warned not to leave anything of value in their cars, writes Brian Byrne.
The advice comes from cemetery caretaker John Brady, who had reports of suspicious incidents yesterday at St Brigid's and New Abbey involving youths in a blue car.
"They were gurriers," John told the Diary this morning. "They were seen looking through the windows of cars parked in St Brigid's. One woman had left her handbag, and they would have been into the car only somebody shouted at them to get off."
The car had earlier been seen driving in and out of the lane to New Abbey graveyard, where it had been noticed that it had different number plates front and rear.
Thefts from cars at cemeteries and graveyards is an ongoing problem across the country.
