Moon and Sixpence to perform for Barretstown
Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge, is delighted to welcome local band The Moon and Sixpence on Wednesday 12 September for a charity concert in aid of Barretstown Children’s Charity, writes Caroline Williams of Riverbank.
The well-loved Kildare band, who get together for charity events from time to time, have been performing and raising thousands of euros for charity for more than 20 years.
Originally formed by the late Des Byrne of The HideOut pub in Kilcullen and John Reidy from Newbridge, the band has gone from strength to strength with other fine musicians joining as the years progressed. With a backline of piano, bass and drums, the frontline has rhythm and lead guitars supporting Siobhan Hurley on lead vocals. Siobhan’s distinctive vocal style is well known in music circles, crossing the entire music divide.
The Moon and Sixpence draw their repertoire from classic pop songs from the 1960s to the present day. They promise a great night of entertainment — and you might find yourself singing along.
