Frankfurt choir in Kildare tomorrow evening

Tomorrow, Friday night 24 August, there will be 'A Choral Celebration' with the Choir of the Church of Christ the King, Frankfurt am Main, Germany, conducted by Wolfgang Weiss, writes Brian Byrne.

Simon Harden will play the organ, and works performed will include pieces by Bruckner, Elgar, Howells and Tallis.

Recent concert venues for the choir have included the Justinuskirche in Hoechst, Berlin (Wilmersdorf, Alt Tegel and Charlottenburg); Hamburg (Michaeliskirche and St Thomas Becket Anglican Church) and Mannheim (Jesuitenkirche).

Singing Christmas Carols at the Weihnachtsmarkt (Frankfurt’s Christmas market) is an annual event and a Messiah Sing-Along has been held several times in the past, attracting new faces to the parish.

'The Lone Piper' on 31 August will feature music from the last four centuries played by organist Simon Harden, with works by Bach, Mozart and Ritter.
