Warning to asthmatics on high pollen count
The Asthma Society of Ireland has warned that those who suffer from asthma and hay fever should keep an eye on pollen levels, expected to reach their peak this week, writes Brian Byrne.
With levels normally reaching their maximum at the end of June, the levels have been heightened for some weeks by the current heatwave.
Four out of five asthmatics also suffer from hay fever, and one in five people in Ireland suffer from hay fever.
There are more than 21,000 people in Kildare with asthma, according to the Society, which now has a pollen tracker online so vulnerable people can check it.
