Relaxing with our heron

Over the last few weeks I've been looking at our resident heron several times as I cross the bridge, but always when I didn't have the right camera with me, writes Brian Byrne.

So this morning I brought the right camera, which gave me the range to capture decent images.

It's great to see him staying there year after year, a testament to the health of the river ... and a reason to stop and enjoy nature when we're hurrying from place to place in town.

(It's for those of us who walk, of course. Rushing by in a car means you don't have this chance.)
