Positive Ageing Week coffee morning to emphasise security
A Coffee Morning in Bank of Ireland Newbridge will be the local event in the national Positive Ageing Week which runs from 20 September to 1 October, writes Brian Byrne.
The event on Wednesday 27 September begins at 11am and will include guest speakers Gda George Doherty, Kildare's Crime Prevention Officer; and Bank of Ireland 'Digi Arrow' Gary Maher who will talk about staying safe online. There will also be spot prizes on the day.
Positive Ageing Week is an initiative of Age Action Ireland, whose Justin Moran says it is about celebrating older people's huge contribution to families and our communities.
"We want to banish the outdated stereotypes about older people in Ireland. They’re workers and business owners. They’re Skypers and Facebookers. They play sports and run marathons. They look after their grandchildren and they share their wisdom with the next generation.
"We’re very proud to be teaming up again with Bank of Ireland to support the older people who are showing every day that they’re not letting their age hold them back.”
