Honor Heffernan is Dorothy Parker at The Moat

The acclaimed Irish duo of singer and actress Honor Heffernan and composer/keyboard player Trevor Knight bring their new
cabaret-speakeasy show, 'The Whistling Girl', to The Moat Theatre on 28 September, writes the theatre's Manager, Kathleen Smith. Trevor Knight has transformed the poems of Dorothy Parker into songs, using her witty, droll and sometimes heart-rending lyrics which are uniquely interpreted by Honor Heffernan.

Parker, founding member of the notorious Algonquin set in New York, and as civil rights activist in America and Spain during the Spanish Civil War, had a truly unique ‘voice’ and a tempestuous life of outrageous celebrity. Honor brings her words to life on stage.

With this production they hope that Dorothy Parker’s poetry and prose will be opened to a wide audience through exciting musical idioms that will breathe new life into the work of this great American literary icon.

Honor Heffernan is an internationally acclaimed jazz singer has been performing as both a singer and actress for over 30 years. She has been both critically and publicly acclaimed as a singer whose versatility and superior vocal ability means she is comfortable singing anything from Jazz and Blues to Rock and Folk.

As an actress she has appeared in Neil Jordan's ‘Angel’ and Lennie Abrahmson’s ‘Prosperity’. She starred in Ireland’s favourite soap ‘Fair City’, and rural soap opera ‘Glenroe’, as well as RTE‘s ‘Live Mike’ with Mike Murphy and in Roddy Doyle's ‘Family’.

We at The Moat Theatre recommend this show highly. Honor is incredible on stage, and fans of musicals will love her performance. Book today.
