Attempted robbery in Kilcullen

Kilcullen gardai are asking that a watch be kept for a silver coupe-type car with a couple and a child in it, suspected of involvement in an attempted robbery in the town this afternoon.

The front wheel on the driver's side had a yellow rim, suggesting that the car is driving on a spare wheel.

The incident happened in an estate at the south end of town at around 4.30pm, when the owner was tending to her front garden.

The car was parked nearby at the time when someone got into the house through a rear window, and opened drawers and cupboards in several rooms, apparently searching for money.

At one stage, somebody in the car blew the horn a number of times, which may have been a signal for the thief to leave the house.
