Shame on the firebugs
It only takes a bit of mindlessness … writes Brian Byrne.
The ‘Bug Hotel’ being installed in the Valley Park was vandalised the other night, suffering some fire damage.
Fortunately, the construction was not completed and had not been filled with dried wood, bark, and cardboard to attract insects and bugs.
The ‘Hotel’ is designed to encourage the kind of biodiversity that keeps an environment healthy, as well as providing a point of education and interest for children and adults alike.
I’ll make an assumption that the damage was caused by the same kind of people who throw their empty cans and fast food detritus on the ground in the same area.
Shame on both matters.
