Local cyclist to represent Ireland
JB Murphy has been selected to represent Ireland in next weekend’s European Cyclo Cross Championships in France, writes Liam Walker of Kilcullen Cycling Club. This is first time that JB has been selected to represent his country.
JB lives in Athgarvan and is a pupil of the Patrician Brothers School in Newbridge, and his selection is a nice birthday present for the 17-year-old.
The photo was taken in Mullingar where JB won the senior race, even though he is still a junior rider.
Cyclo Cross is a cross country race with a bike where the rider has to do some running and cycling. The races usually last about an hour and are at a very high intensity.
