Celebrations for The Saint's 80th

The Diary was unable to attend, but from the photographs kindly supplied this morning by Maeve Collins (taken by Nuala), it was some bash in Fallons last night as celebrations took place for the 80th birthday of Donal St Leger.

It was a big, big surprise for Donal himself, organised by his son Brian and daughter Kathleen and other members of the St Leger and Nugent families, with the connivance of local intriguers led by Vivian Clarke.

Music was provided by the Kellys, a typically hilarious sketch was performed by Bernard Berney and Vivian Clarke after the birthday boy was welcomed home by Lord Mayor Michael Lambe, and Ger Peacocke immortalised the event in an all encompassing prose poem.

We've just a few of the pictures on the page, but all the action and attendance can be viewed here.

A belated happy 80th from us too, Saint.
