Great GAA Easter Camp

Kilcullen GAA Easter Camp took place this week and you have heard the saying ‘A game of two halves’, writes Camp Coordinator Liam Cronin. Well, the camp was two different days as the sun shone brightly on Thursday but rained non-stop on Friday. Over the two days 60 kids attended the Easter Camp learning new football skills (kicking, passing, pick-up, blocking), football blitzes outside and indoor games. Thanks to Vivienne Wynne for coordinating and running the indoor games on Friday.

Highlight of the camp for most kids was the attendance of Dublin inter-county footballers Emmett O’Conghaile and Kevin O’Brien, who brought their 2015 All-Ireland, Leinster and League medals. Emmett and Kevin met every kid during the mixed blitz games, to give some footballing advice, answer some tough questions and sign autographs.

The camp would not have happened without tremendous support from Jacinta Sully, who was present both days completing registration and providing refreshments to the mentors.

A special thanks to an excellent group of mentors who worked tirelessly to ensure the kids had two fun-filled days and learned new GAA skills. The fantastic mentors were Sean Fitzgerald, Alan Lambe, Alan Kenny, Stephen Willis, Billy Cronin, Jack O’Connor, Niamh Garrett and Avril Glendon.

Thanks to Eurospar who donated a special treat to every kid who attended the camp on Friday, which they really enjoyed.
