Badminton update
A good week this week for the club with some very positive results in the Dublin and District League and first out were Lynsey's Division 2 Mix team who played two matches this week. In their first match away to Old Bawn the KBC crew got a well deserved 2-2 draw, keeping their hopes alive to reaching a semi final. Lynsey's second game of the week was at home to Kilsmeasan, in this one sided contest the KBC team whitewashed the visitors beating them 4-0. This victory means that it will all go down to the last group match against Old Bawn, if the KBC quartet can win this match they are into the semis, a loss or a draw means it will be a semi final for Old Bawn. Good luck to Lynsey, Lorraine, Gareth, and Declan in their last group match and hopefully they can progress to the semi.
Jen and the Division 6 Mix 6 team secured a second place in the group with a 4-0 victory over Rolestown, albeit not in the traditional fashion with Rolestown conceding the match as they could not field a team. Jen and the team now wait to see if it's Knocklyon or Eire Friends that they will face in the playoffs. Good luck to Jen, Tara, John and the sub for that match John Healy.
Ray's Division 6 Mix 5 are also flying high with one group match left to play as Ray and the gang remain unbeaten. They continued their winning streak on Thursday 31 March with a 4-0 away victory to Ashbourne. Ray and his team are also guaranteed a playoff match and have really cruised at this level. Ray's last match is a home fixture to UCD, good luck to Ray, Sarah, Siobhan and Alan.
Sarah’s Division 6 Ladies played their last fixture at home on Tuesday 29 March and managed to make a flawless season so far even better by beating Knocklyon 4-0 without even dropping a set. Sarah, Kat, Siobhan, Tara and regular super sub Jen have had an amazing season so far and have not been beaten in any of the competitions they’ve competed in. The ladies so far have won the Dublin District Division 6 Cup, South West League Grade 4 Cup and are into both the South West and Dublin District League semi finals in their grades. Guess who’ll be going up a grade next year!!!! I can also vouch that they are not bad in the mix either!!
Finally good luck to Ray and his Grade 4 team of Siobhan, Jen, Sarah, Tara, Alan, John and Enda in their Grade 4 Cup Final. If the KBC team win this it will be a double for the club in the SWL Grade 4. They have it all to do though as they face Mullingar in Carlow YM on 5 April. The Mullingar team will have a six-point handicap on the KBC hopefuls. Basically for KBC to win a set they will have to score 27 points instead of the regular 21, but we all know “The Rags” are never afraid of a challenge.
