Culture night 2016 to be a full weekend
Kildare County Council is calling for proposals for Culture Night 2016, which will actually be a full weekend this year, writes Brian Byrne.
With more than 80 events and over 100 organisations involved in 2015, the Council is extending the programme to take in Friday-Sunday 16-18 September.
“Culture Night provides the platform to celebrate our distinct cultural and creative resources, while helping to create awareness and interest in the diversity of our cultural organisations,” says Federica Petronilli, the Council’s coordinator of Culture Night & National Playday. “Events encompass all interests: from music to history, film to nature, visual art to informative lectures, bus tours, walks and workshops and are free to the public.”
Anyone interested in developing an idea can attend a ‘Looking Forward meeting’ on 11 April in KCC headquarters in Naas. Further information from culturenightkildare@gmail.com, Facebook page “Arts in Kildare” or kildare.ie/artsservice/culturenight.
