The passing of Paddy Aspell (arrangements update)
The Diary has learned with sadness of the death of Paddy Aspell of Newbridge, formerly from Kilcullen.
A long serving member of Kildare County Council from his election in 1974, Paddy was a staunch member of Fianna Fail all his life. He also had a keen interest in GAA and boxing, and was a prominent member of Kilcullen Boxing Club through the 1950s-1960s. He is pictured above with KCA's Margaret O'Shea in 2012, when he was given a Kilcullen Community Award for his dedication over many years in coaching and helping to develop the Club.
Paddy will be reposing at his family home from 1pm on Wednesday, with removal at 6.30pm to arrive at Kilcullen Parish Church at 7.30pm.
His removal from the church will be on Thursday morning at 10.15am, to arrive at St Conleth's Church, Newbridge, for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial will take place afterwards in St Conleth's Cemetery, Newbridge.
We express our condolences to his family and many friends. May he rest in peace.
