Fairy tales art exhibition opens tonight
Local artist Adeline Poufong is having an exhibition in Naas Library which starts tonight, 23 June, writes Brian Byrne.
Titled 'Once Upon a Time', the event features 16 clay pieces and one wood carving all based on fairy tales.
"I've always been interested in story-telling and wanted to do work on something that appealed to both children and adults," Adeline says. "Although the tales can sometimes turn dark, my main focus is to put a smile on people's faces. Childhood memories are often forgotten about and the books we read as children were important in their own right.
"I feel when seeing these memories brought to life, we can forget everything else for a few moments and revert back to a time when animals dressed in clothes and princesses kissing frogs seemed logical!"
The official opening is at 7.30pm, and the exhibition runs through 3 July.
Adeline was a consistent winner in the Kilcullen Credit Union Schools Art competitions down through the years. She studied Ceramic Design in the Limerick School of Art & Design, but also paints. She is open to exploring other art forms.
She had a previous exhibition, with Davitt Steed, in Naas Library in March 2011.
